Why this tool exists
Language is how we tend the world within us. The words we cultivate determine the texture of our inner life — how finely we can perceive beauty, sorrow, wonder, and belonging. The Garden builds vocabulary the way a garden grows: slowly, through patient tending, with attention to roots and season.
The design
Every word is chosen for its roots — etymological and thematic. These are words from the spheres of contemplation, wonder, the natural world, and the examined life. You will not just learn definitions; you will learn where words came from, what they carry, how they connect to one another underground, the way roots do.
The design mirrors a 17th-century letterpress herbarium — aged parchment, forest-green ink, the aesthetic of a naturalist's careful record. A Season is the unit of progress: a cohort of thirty words grown through patient repetition. Complete one Season and the next begins. The Harvest is the weekly writing test — not a memory exam, but a craft challenge. The only wrong answer is a forgettable one.
